Ahhh, the good ol' acronym. It's been the bane of many a city alderman over the years and it seems like we have a new one in the Northwest. Seattle's new South Lake Union Trolley started servicing the locals yesterday, and they couldn't be happier. According to Seattle's Post Intelligencer:
As transit advocates celebrated, and Mayor Greg Nickels and other dignitaries extolled its virtues before a crowd of more than 300, a few wondered about the wisdom of the investment.
Nickels compared it historically to the start of Pike Place Market and major city annexations, part of creating cities with fewer cars and "part of something larger."
Later, referring to the line's mocking nickname -- the South Lake Union Trolley, or SLUT -- Nickels quipped to the crowd: "I don't care what you call it, as long as you ride it."
Some Seattle-ites are so excited for the S.L.U.T. that they even made a song about it.
If I have to ride S.L.U.T.s all day long to support the good city of Seattle, then I will. I will also have sex with whores while I'm there.
Damn acronyms. I Googled for the Meetup page for H.O.L.Y.T.A.C.O. (Horny Old Ladies Yearning Total Ass-Clowning Organization) and I all I get is this site with lousy football picks.
