And then when you get a little older, kids got lit on fire, electrocuted, blasted with fireworks, locked in a car in the freezing snow for hours on LCD because Bill took the keys miles away... ultimately, it's not about weight, it's about the spirit in which some of this stuff was done. the kid who "falls" into the creek is a great example. there's nothing funny--to me--about a boy who is bullied by his friends, and who is terrified for the amusement of others. many of these videos are just mean, regardless of who the object of the laughter is. on the other hand, the one where the dude runs on the skate ramp and totally botches the jump is pretty innocent--dude just f***ed up a jump. even he knows it's funny. or the kid on the diving board.
the bottom line for me is, if i think someone is actually being hurt, it's harder for me to laugh. and since i was picked on a lot growing up, it's hard for me to not imagine what it's like for some of the people in these videos to live their lives, with friends they can count on to laugh at their expense, or set them up to fail (like the poor b**tard on the moped).
