I need you to put on your thinking cap and COMPREHEND properly now.

1. Guns have been invented. We cannot go back to a time before them.

2. Guns are inanimate objects and cannot harm ANYONE without human action.

3. Since guns already exist, they are available to people with good intentions, who would never use them to harm an INNOCENT person. And they are also available to people who are EVIL (yes, some people ARE evil) who would use them to dominate, rape, and murder INNOCENT people who had little choice in being part of their evil plan.

4. Guns can therefore be used BY THE INNOCENT to repel those evil souls who would perpetrate their evils acts on the innocent by virtue of their ability to easily kill them.

5. Therefore… guns are simply a tool to be used for and by good and evil. The person who weilds the gun is what is good or evil, NOT the gun.

If in your perfect, pacifist, fantasy world, no one should EVER be killed regardless of reason (even for the cause of defending oneself against those who would commit evil acts against you)… then I guess I can’t reason with you. Evil exists. Pacifists would have evil RULE the world in triumph by declaring appropriate resistance against evil to be the same as evil.

Freakscene makes valid points, you’re all misreading, and misunderstanding his points in this discussion. It’s your misunderstandings which are making you seem ignorant.

First off…Bubba Sparks doesn’t make any sort of point at all except he’s attacking Freakscene and no part of his argument. ” “Inherently Violent”, no shit genius”…what are you even trying to say here Bubba Sparks? That you agree with Freakscenes statement that guns are inherently violent? Then why are you just attacking him after. Then you go on to say that the point is that gun owners are stereotyped as violent people, Freakscene knows this, and knows the people are being stereotyped, but he’s giving insight as to why people who own guns are stereotyped (the fact that guns were created as a mechanism to kill-as I have showed at the beginning of this post). He’s not furthering the stererotype, hes offering an explanation as to why it has come around. Steel Rod made an extremely ignorant post by taking items and trying to prove his point by using those items in contexts which they were not created for. Baseball bats were built for baseball, cars were built as a mode of transportation, Steel Rod just took those items and found a way to kill life with them. Guns were created as a military device for killing.

2nd - Chaosman - Not once did Freakscene say guns were bad, he’s providing another way to view firearms into this discussion. I don’t think he has anything against guns, his first post was made to shed some light onto an ignorant post by Steel Rod, and people took it way out of context.

3rd - RKBA - Freakscene said that to think the gun is to be used to scare off burglers is foolish. He said that the gun is meant in the majority of times, to kill, and you just reiterated his point by saying its to shoot the SOB. The definition of inherent is “existing in someone or something as a permanent and inseparable element, quality, or attribute”, and the definition of violence is “Physical force exerted for the purpose of violating, damaging, or abusing”…so actually the force to damage something is permanent in a gun, so technically violence is inherent in guns. “In the wrong hands it can be used for violence, or it could be used to save a life”…well to save that life you will have to be by definition violent, or threaten violence upon a person by firing the gun or threatening to fire the gun at the person.

That’s -all- they are. I own a bunch of them, and I’m into target shooting. I shoot paper targets. Because, frankly, shooting Bambi is WAY too much work, when I have three large supermarkets within two miles of my house.

That said, if someone breaks into our house, or assaults us on the street, they’ll be dealing with me, instead of being the subject of an after-the-fact police report.

And I can’t stand hypocrites - if you are unwilling to utilize a firearm yourself (even to brandish to persuade someone to seek an easier target), then don’t call the police to use them for you…

Some folks have a problem with women being empowered - I like armed women. Makes your average lowlife rapist maybe consider taking up another hobby, or buying a goat or something… Note to self: Do not buy goat at supermarket…

Violence is perpetrated by a living being, not a tool.

Guns by themselves are no more “inherently violent” than you car is. You must think a gun is like Stephen King’s Christine, a man made object with a evil mind of it’s own.
