I don't believe he is gay. He was known to be bi-sexual when he was younger, but probably put that aside when he realized he wanted to have a more traditional personal life. Many people do that. It's called making choices. He obviously has made his, so I don't know why people continue to make this an issue. If he weren't married to SJP, we wouldn't even be discussing it. He has had many girlfriends in his life, so what if he has gay male friends? He is an actor and lives in NYC, so why would that be unusual?
