Following the death of Amy Winehouse, English semi-madman Russell brand penned an essay on his website entitled “For Amy.”  In it, Brand displays how he’s not nearly as foolish as you might have thought he was and shames all comedians like ourselves who just used Winehouse, or anyone really, for a cheap laugh.  As comedians we stand behind every crass joke we make.  But as rational humans, we also appreciate that, at the end of the day, those jokes were about this guy’s friend and he had some stunning insight into her life and addictions in general.  You should read it.  Then go watch Get Him to the Greek.
