Holy Taco’s Favorite Cheesy Summer Movie Scenes

Well, if you’re an American, you’re going to be enduring the hot dog filled transition from spring to summer known as Memorial Day Weekend! It’s the kickoff for the summer vacation season, a season that was magnified and corned-up by movies in the eighties. Here’s a few clips from our favorite summer vacation movies…

Summer Rental
Everything is pretty much summed up in the title of this film starring John Candy. It’s a summer vacation that goes awry in every way possible. There’s no boobs in this one and the story line is a little lame, but it does contain an obligatory boat race.

One Crazy Summer
This one starring John Cusack and Demi Moore is actually funny for some of the right reasons, but a few of the wrong ones. It’s a bit cheesy and it features Bobcat Goldthwait screaming and being weird. This is the boat race scene, an essential element to every eighties’ summer flick.

National Lampoon’s Vacation
This 1983 gem is genuinely funny and totally re-watchable. Here’s our favorite clip featuring Chevy Chase trying to have a man-to-man talk with his sun, Rusty after nearly killing the family, again.

Meatballs
A solid summer camp film starring Bill Murray as an arrogant camp director.

Summer School
The 1987 flick where Mark Harmon is forced to teach Summer School to a bunch of misfits. Pretty cheesy all around. Party all the time.

Back To The Beach
This one’s a little too much to handle, but Pee-Wee Herman is in it. It was an attempt at a comeback for Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. It’s like a ninety minute beach boys video, but for one of their really bad songs, like “Kokomo”.

You’re welcome.
