Holy Taco’s Video of the Day – Chimp with a Machine Gun

I know we’ve posted some videos in anticipation of Rise of the Planet of the Apes before, but this one blows the rest away with sheer, unadulterated awesomeness. Why? Because it’s a chimp with a firearm. And due to popular whining, we will fully disclose that this video is a viral marketing campaign for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which wasn’t obvious to everyone apparently so now you can rest easy.

In accordance to FTC Guidelines, I am disclosing that I have been compensated by 20th Century as a part of the “Rise 50.” However, all editorial content has been created by me and reflects my personal opinions.

Pretending these things are real posts instead of paid advertisements is pure bullshit.

I dare you to approve this comment.

What gave us away, Drew? The article I wrote that included the disclaimer that I’d been compensated by 20th century Fox right in the text? Or the fact I said, right in this post, we’ve been posting these in anticipation of the release of Rise of the Planet of the Apes? The world doesn’t need to mourn Peter Falk’s death, Columbo’s spirit lives on in you.

      • Drew says:

As far as I can tell, and I may have miscounted, you posted one initial article that looked back at all the “Apes” movies, and it’s clear that at the bottom of that you indicate you are being compensated for the post.

You then wrote/blogged three additional pieces (all videos), NONE of which have any indication that they are paid advertisements. In ADDITION to that, at least two of those are accompanied by text that purports them to be “real”.

You are misleading your readers by not disclosing the nature of these paid advertisements on EVERY PAGE on which they appear. After a careful reading of the FCC regulation regarding paid content, I am convinced that this is illegal.

You’re also misleading people to believe that these videos are real when they’re not.

I won’t pretend that Holtaco.com is a bastion of journalistic integrity, but for chrissake man – is lying to people really worth the money?

Well Drew, we’d hate to not be accurately following FCC guildelines, that’s for sure, so we have a disclaimer in each post now. Thank you ever so much for being diligent in your comedy reading.

    Mr witty.

Because most people don’t just click the videos and watch w/o reading. Change the title and I’ll be closer to impressed
