Maybe losing a wrestling match to a kid who only has one arm and zero legs may be a sign that wrestling isn’t your sport. Perhaps it’s time to try out for the Debate team or the Chess team or the Oh Man, I’m Never Getting Laid At This School Because I Lost To The One-Limbed Kid In A Wrestling Match team. I’m just sayin’.
I agree, I fail to see how this is offensive. I remember hearing about this kid back when I was in high school wrestling, and believe me when I say he’s legit. He took the sport seriously, and any opponents who didn’t take him seriously would usually be taught a lesson.
That guy, or maybe another limbless wrestler (how many could there be?), wrestled at the University of Georgia and he was really good. He worked with his coach to find moves that would work for him and exercises that he could do, since he can’t do traditional weightlifting. He worked really hard and kicked a lot of people’s asses. I don’t know that he had an advantage, but he definitely used what he had to his advantage.
Yeah, when you factor in weight classes, he going to be wrestling kids much scrawnier than himself. Plus, He’s figured out a system that works for him, and it would be near impossible to wrestle him like a normal person.
my teammate got pinned by a blind kid this season. lol. it seems they’ll let anybody, no matter their disability, wrestle these days….
seriously though, how do you wrestle someone who doesn’t have limbs? its impossible to get a take down on someone who starts on the ground, there’s no way to get a tilt on him….the only thing you can do is pin him, which is really hard seeing as you can’t arm drag or ankle pick or really do much of anything with out him being within “arm” reach
Yeah, the title and description are misleading. But I don’t see any shame in losing to that guy. He’s a true testimate to the sport. I for one would not want special treatment if I were him. Plus anyone who would make fun of him is probably an insecure 13 year old, and anyone offended is probably some over sensitive pita person who really doesn’t understand what it’s like for my new one armed friend.
The poster should actually learn something about wrestling first before saying that its embarrassing. Its not a complete advantage but having no legs and one and a half legs allows him the wrestle at a much lower wieght class. He has the upper body strength of a kid 4 wieght classes up. If this kid worked on his technique theres nothing that says he can’t be a respectable wrestler.
Also its just a completely different sport when your opponent doesn’t have limbs, as others have already said. Everything you know about wrestling is now wrong or just changed for this one specific match.
You can’t make a take-down on a guy that’s already down. It’s really creepy just to look at the guy, just think of having to touch him.
It’s a no-win situation. If you beat the guy, it’s like big deal, you beat a guy with one limb. If you loose to the guy it’s like, “you couldn’t beat a guy with no legs and only one arm?”
Yeah, yeah, I know it’s mean to say it’s creepy, but my feelings are no more or less valid than ‘stubby’ needing to feel included.
Anybody who feels differently can eat my shorts.
I don’t see him at any disadvantage. If anything he’s at an advantage for the reasons listed above. He’s the same WEIGHT as the people he’s fighting, but he’s much stronger and harder to attack. When the goal is to knock the guy out of a ring, pin him, or force him into submission instead of beating him in a marathon…you’re probably screwed.
Anyone who made fun of the 2 legged loser has obviously never been in wrestling.
Wrestling at that level is by very close weight classes sometimes only separated by 5 to 7 lb steps. Without legs you get a huge advantage in upper body muscle mass in your weight class. If it would have been and arm wrestling contest by weight class you would have all said that the guy with legs got a raw deal. In this case, legs did not help too much for the guy with legs and the lack of legs on the othe guy takes away ways to “wrap him up” and control him not to mention that the you don’t typically practice against guys with no legs.
I think back to wresting practice and we use to often end with a “wrestle off” starting with the lowest weight two guys and winner takes on the next person up in weight. It would be the rare exception for someone to make it more than 2 or 3 positions beyond their weight. For the most part, the difficulty imposed by the extra weight and advantage in muscle mass for the heavier person would quickly overcome extra talent because everyone was trained pretty well in their moves.
Ahhh!! This whole match I want to scream at the screen to the kid in black: “STOP REACHING BACK!” “LOWER YOUR HIPS!” “YOU GOT IT, DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE!”
Then he’s trying to throw legs towards the end?? Finally when he’s on his back he doesn’t even attempt to bridge. I’d say the kid in black was probably fairly new to wrestling.
The kid in red has a major advantage. In order to truly control your opponent, you need to tie up at least two limbs… But there is very little leverage to be had on him and his upper body strength far greater than the other kids because he has probably 30+ extra pounds dedicated to the mass of his arms and legs.
the handicapped kid has the advantage because he has the strength and size of a larger wrestler that would normally be in a much higher weight class but he gets to go against weaker, lighter wrestlers.
this kid is a very good wrestler, and he made it to the ohio state championships this year and went 1 and 2, and after he was done got a standing ovation by the whole arena that was sold out, something that only 4 time state champions receive. so there should be no disrespect or negative comments against him as he is very successful and has worked very hard to achieve what he has.

@Karelton James
Offensive!? So you’re one of those asses who actually complain when disabled people do, well, in this case sports… Do you go to the special olympics each year so you could preach at people for cheering on disabled/retarded people? Are you really that simple minded? You DO know that you can just laugh _with_ them, not _at_ them, right? Go die in a ditch you self-centered fuck.
I was in wrestle in Iowa and there was good friend of mine that was just like this. he went on to win 2nd in state in his weight division. I was his sparring partner and damn it made me a better wrestler because of it. He had his advantages and definite disadvantages for not having full limbs. My buddy Dan did have two arms so it was a little different but I mean the Upper body strength is phenomenal . My buddy would say that from getting around in his chair or not he really didn’t have to work on his upper body but he was ripped.
I beat him a few times but the first few times i dint know what to do…and down right afraid to do anything because I didnt want to do something wrong.
reading through these posts really annoys me. that kid’s name is kyle maynard and he was born without limbs. i was required to read his biography along with my wrestling team last year. he has broken weight lifting records and done amazing things for the sport of wrestling. he even played football in middle school when his size wasn’t as significantly different from the other kids’. i am disgusted by the lack of respect for him in these posts and the lack of understanding of how hard he really worked to be that strong and good
i can understand that it may change the match if you have to wrestle a person like that but he doesnt have any goddamn limbs!!! that not only seriously limits what you can do to him, but it limits much more what he can do to you! he can’t even grab your fucking wrist, which is a crucial part of wrestling. he worked his ass off to be able to hang in sports and you people don’t respect it.
so to all of you ignorant people who are talking crap about this figure of inspiration, learn something before you speak for once. please.
The comments on this spectacular wrestler leave me sad.You idots makeing negative comments about this mans so called disability are a sad commentary of todays youth.Especially the moron with the dog butt comment. To that loser I say…you wouldn’t make a pimple on that wrestlers butt.May God bless that hero, the wrestler.
In all honesty, good for that kid. If I was in his situation I’m sure I’d spend all my time watching TV. Hell, I have all limbs and I spend all my time watching TV.
Only the most vile, self-absorbed creature would call this “offensive.” Kyle isn’t being insulted, degraded, or satirized. If YOU deem it offensive because YOU find it hard to look at, why the hell are you watching?
You say it makes you want to puke. I can’t think of a more powerful emetic than your own personality.
Anyone that would ridicule the handicapped wrestler must be a coward themselves. Do you have any idea that courage that kid must have to do what he is doing? He is a testament to what the human mind and spirit can overcome in even the most adverse circumstances. That boy is someones son and how proud they must be of him. Imagine yourself having a son born handicapped or you yourselves losing your legs or arms in a tragic accident. I think you would have a different perspective on what this young man is accomplishing. This kid will be successful in whatever path he winds up taking in life.

That kid is an excellent example of what disabled people can do. Many disabled people are more abled than abled people!

You could anaconda choke the hell out of the kid, but I don’t know if that is legal in this type of wreslting.
Good job for the limbless kid, but ouch. Losing to this guy would spell the end of your social life.
He really does look like some kind of a dog.

Should not be allowed to play. For one if he wins you got your ass kicked by a gimp and if you win your the asshole who beat up a gimp.

I am so upset I misspelled IDIOT.I don’t think anyone on here today would’ve noticed.
When he “walked” it looked like when a dog scratches his ass by dragging it across the rug.
In all honesty, good for that kid. If I was in his situation I’m sure I’d spend all my time watching TV. Hell, I have all limbs and I spend all my time watching TV.
With no legs it leaves all his weight for his upper body. I’m not saying he has an advantage… its just that its not really ALL that unfair
Kudos to the limbless kid. Inspirational to say the least.
This isn’t fair. His legs don’t block him from flipping from side to side…
I feel bad for the limbed kid. Theres nothing to grab.
He can’t tie up, he cant arm drag, he cant shoot. This limbless dude changes the entire game.
This is offensive, take this shit off!!
Man vs. Creature.
@Karelton: In what way is it offensive?
