Paulina Gretzky’s Golf Digest Cover Draws Hate From Lady-Golfers

April 4, 2014 | 8:15 am

Paulina Gretzky is the attractive blonde daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, who maybe didn’t pay enough attention to her as a child. Paulina grew up to become Internet-famous for posting sexy photos of herself on Twitter and Instagram, and getting engaged to pro golfer Dustin Johnson. Those two qualifications have landed her the cover of Golf Digest‘s April 2014 issue, which hits newsstands April 8th.

“Sports figures, celebrities and models have appeared on Golf Digest covers since the magazine’s beginning,” said Golf Digest editor-in-chief Jerry Tarde. “Paulina ranks at the high end of the golf celebrity scene today, and she has a compelling story to tell. She also might get some new people interested in the game.”

Unfortunately, not everybody’s so psyched about it. “It’s frustrating for female golfers,” Stacy Lewis told The New York Times. “It’s kind of the state of where we’ve always been. We don’t get respect for being the golfers that we are. Obviously, Golf Digest is trying to sell magazines. But at the same time you’d like to see a little respect for the women’s game.”

“I think they should maybe recognize some of the great women golfers that we have,” added Juli Inkster. “It’s like, What do you have to do to get a little respect?”

So, do sexy women have any place in golf, or golf-related reading materials? Check out some photos from Paulina’s Golf Digest cover shoot in the gallery above — as well as a few more of our favorite Paulina Gretzky photos — and tweet us your thoughts @HolyTaco.
