Sad Video of the Day: Jack Russell’s Great White Plays Arena Show, 25 People Show Up

(Props: Rich Hutchinson)

You may remember Great White from such ’80s rock hits as “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” and that 2003 nightclub fire that killed a hundred people. These days, the band is still touring in two different incarnations (Great White and Jack Russell’s Great White), which is amazing when you consider that the market for Great White concerts has to be pretty damn small to begin with.

Last month, Jack Russell’s Great White was booked to play a show at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, New Jersey, following an arena football game that was attended by over a thousand people. The band started playing about an hour after the game, and by then, nearly everybody had left to beat the traffic. If you skip to the 8:22 mark, you’ll see the camera pan across the “crowd,” which consists of about two dozen white folks just standing there with their arm crossed, ready to sprint to an exit if any pyrotechnics go off.

And yet, Jack Russell’s Great White plays their asses off as if the room is full, because hell, what else are they gonna do?
