The 11 Coolest Wheelchairs In The World

Being in a wheelchair has to be one of the worst things a person has to deal with. And we salute anyone who’s in that situation. We also want to salute those who’ve taken their handicap and turned it into a badass mode of transportation. Here are our favorite 11.

1. The Tank Chair
You might think driving a Porsche is a great way to pick up girls. But, I’m pretty sure crushing a Porsche as you drive over it with your Tank Chair is an even better way to pick up girls. (Am I right, ladies?)

2. The Flame-Throwing Wheelchair
Stairs and inclines used to be the biggest problem for people in wheelchairs. But when your chair can hit 20 mph and shoot flames 15 feet into the air, it seems little things like “problems” would become a thing of the past.

3. The Batchair
How much better would The Dark Knight have been if Batman managed to save the day using this wheelchair instead of all his fancy gadgets. (The answer: A LOT better.)

4. The Boss Hoss Advantage Wheelchair
According to the manufacturer: “The trike has been designed with a wheelchair lift built into the chassis, which is hidden by the fiberglass truck-style trike body. All the controls of the trike are hand operable to accommodate individuals that do not have use of their legs.” According to the guy driving it, “This rules.”

5. The Robotic Wheelchair
I have no idea what this wheelchair does, but by the looks of it, I’d guess it can travel time, reanimate human tissue and make you a smoothie all at the same time.

6. The X4 Extreme Wheelchair
This wheelchair is so extreme I bet you could drive it to the moon.

7. The Kenguru Wheelchair Car
According to the manufacturer “The driver simply rolls into place, locks down the wheelchair, and drives off using a joystick like controller.” It’s like Fred Flintstone’s car, except this one probably won’t flip over when you order a dinosaur’s ribcage from your local take-out.

8. The Patio Furniture Wheelchair
Your wheelchair doesn’t always need to be futuristic and extreme to be awesome. Sometimes you just want to sit on the back deck and sip an ice cold Budweiser in your patio chair. Well, with this, you can bring the comfort of your back patio with you everywhere.

9. The Solarola Wheelchair
Using no gas or electricity, the Solarola wheelchair is one of the only wheelchairs that gets its power from the sun. Take that Prius owners.

10. The iBot Wheelchair
This wheelchair can go up stairs, bring a person to eye level and make it look like your popping a world’s raddest wheelie whenever you want.

11. The Hunting Wheelchair
The guy who made this wheelchair was an avid hunter who had to have his leg amputated. Yes, this chair was made specifically for the purpose of blowing away animals. Can you say that about your Geo Metro?

  1. Lelah says:

Isn’t the Patio Wheelchair an example of the one that charity is making for those unable to walk in 3rd world countries? Forgive me for not remembering their name. Wheelchairs (normal, not flame throwing ones!) can be around $4k. This charity uses cheaper materials, builds them themselves, and distributes them to people who need them.

  2. Cmackdilly says:

Which one of these can I drive with my tongue?

  3. Dom says:

Yeah you’re right No Legs. I totally would need a flame throwing wheelchair if I was crippled, you know to make it easier to walk to dog and take out the garbage. You know every day stuff, I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have a FUCKING FLAME THROWER for a wheelchair.

“what happened did the retard escape?”

  4. Rebecca Coyne says:

I love each and everyone of them. Since I was a hood ornament, crossing in the crosswalk with the light and hit by a car running her red light while she talked on her cell phone, I can really see the point of the flame thrower. How about the Tank with the flame thrower on it? Dom….get a sense of humor! I can see myself in the “Boss Hoss” also! So what that I’m fifty-five years old! I am more than a Polio Survivor…..I am a polio suvivor who really lives as they say in the movie “Second Hand Lions”. I am a life-timer. You newbys better learn to laugh at yourselves because if you don’t, you won’t make it!

  5. Whoosh! says:

    @Rebecca

I think Dom was responding to no legs, not to the article itself…

  6. beaner says:

These are all very cool, but where is the chair with a cooler attachment?!

  7. circa1896 says:

come on where is Stephen Hawkings’ wheel chair that thing can f#%king talk

  8. Anonymous says:

I appreciate the handicapped working so hard to entertain all us normal people.

  9. lmnop says:

The iBot chair is very cool; my ex worked on part of it. It is calibrated specifically for the person to work in ‘balance mode’ (the upright mode shown in the picture). It can climb stairs and is a sort of 4wd so it can navigate deeper sand, some rocks, etc that no ordinary chair can. Dean Kamen’s company designed it; he’s the same guy who did the Segway, so you can see where some of the balancing tech came from. I think when they were released, they cost around 10 grand.

  10. G Man says:

I have an X4 Extreme and it will not go to the moon but it is awesome i can get anywhere with that thing and i love muddin in it! It’s like a sweet personal ATV!

  11. kidskid says:

i just love that tank chair !!!! were can i get one ? or the spects to make one , i live in the country on a farm and that would be perfect !!!!!!!!!! kidskid80@hotmail.com

  12. FlaChairDude says:

HOLY BAT CHAIR….those are f$#@n awesome!! I want the motorcycle, but the little yellow car was exactly what I had in mind for a whle. I want that car…perfect for me coz I don’t drive much out of a 5-10 mile radius of my home. I’m a c5c6 SCI, drive a big old clunky ’82 Ford van…$65 to fill up!!!

  13. Nancy Duncan says:

Here’s the link to the free wheelchairs using bicycle parts and plastic lawn chairs:

    http://www.freewheelchairmission.org/

They cost $48 each, and they can be used and maintained almost everywhere. And we know those plastic chairs last!

  14. Dawn Pendergast says:

To Nick ……….. there are a lot worse people off than u in this world.
Yes we are all still ‘cripple’ , I prefer to say that I am disabled, but your preference to what u want to call it is yours alone.
I am a 65 yr old Grandmother and been a Paraplegic for the past 8 years since a doctor put an ‘epidural’ in the wrong place when I was having a hip replacement.
I still do most things I did before I became a paraplegic, I still play with my Grandchildren (even football) I still babysit them, I have still been present at the newest ones births. I still cook, sew, garden etc .
What do u do, sit on your arse all day and winge about what fate has dealt u.
    Get a life Nick.
