Watching some athlete hold up some ornate trophy is exciting to only the fans of that athlete/team. But when something goes wrong and the trophy ends up in more than one piece, well, everyone can enjoy that.

Note how the guy in the back right of photos three and four continues to clap as he watches it fall on Marat’s head, and ultimately to the ground. His face is saying “Watch out for falling trophy!” but his hands are saying “Bravo!”
4. Kazuhiro Kokubo – The 2007 FIS Snowboard Second Place Trophy
I have no idea what this trophy looked like before it was smashed, but I’m guessing the oh-crap-did-you-just-see-my-trophy-fall-over-and-get-smashed look on his face tells me it was a little bigger than a handle and a small glass rod.
The B.C. Lions – The CFL Grey Cup
The Grey Cup has actually been broken about 5 times in its history (including once when it was head-butted into pieces by someone from the winning team), so this isn’t treated as a big deal (as you can see from the second picture.)

Since no one on this side of the prime meridian understands how Rubgy works, and therefore never watches it, this is what their big trophy should look like on the left. And how it looked after a scrum with the winners.

What do you do when the trophy your holding up in the air snaps in front of a crowd of 50,000 people? You pick up the pieces, toss them in your teammate’s arms and skate away as quickly as possible.
Regarding the trophy of Kazuhiro Kokubo #4 (who looks like the asian kid from the Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom movie) …. that kid’s trophy probably looks just like the trophy that the white kid standing next to him is holding.
After all, the stem and base of the trophy are identical.
On second thought…..all asian kids look like the asian kid from Temple of Doom.
I can still hear his annoying voice….Indy….Indy…..wake up Indy…..kalima….shuck-deday…..rips out his heart……awesome for a ten year old.
