We had a gallery up ysterday that has since been taken down, which we decided, upon reflection, was in poor taste. How can a site that publishes open letters to the makers of KY consider anything in poor taste? We just can, we’re normal people, we get flogged by paid mistresses one leg at a time, just like you.
Yesterday’s gallery made fun of some geeks and we figured that was mean spirited. This isn’t just a bro site, it’s a site for everyone and we fell into the trap of taking the easy way out of something. Everyone who writes for this site has been doing comedy for years. Our managing editor Ian Fortey was a columnist for Cracked.com and contributed to sites like Gunaxin,com, collegehumor.com and Funnycrave.com amongst others and in that time we’ve all learned and observed that negativity is the easiest way to make jokes. Look at any site and you’ll see the same thing. Movie critics relish ripping into a bad movie and can get many more quotable lines than they will praising a good movie.
It’s not that we want to be negative, it’s just thsat a Maddox-style rant can be powerfully hilarious. Anger, frustration, fear and disappointment can lead to awesome comedy. It’s easy and relatable for an audience as well.
However, taking cheap shots (don’t get us wrong, we love cheap shots and Glenn Beck is a bubble-headed twat) at some folks just out for a good time seemed, in retrospect, like it wasn’t as funny as it could have been, it was just easy. We’re not above easy comedy, but it has to be good too. We have some standards around here. So we apologize and offer you this delightful photo,
